Gardening

Alongside our academic curriculum, we offer a carefully planned gardening programme that gives pupils hands-on experience of growing, making and enterprise. Children learn how to cultivate plants from seed to harvest, including growing flax which they then use to explore how natural fibres can be turned into clothing. Through this process, pupils develop practical skills, teamwork and an understanding of sustainability, while also making meaningful links to science, design technology and history. Opportunities for enterprise help children understand the value of their work, build confidence and develop creativity and problem-solving skills, all while fostering respect for the environment and a sense of pride in what they can produce.
