Year 4 Flax Workshop

Year 4 children were learning how to scutch, heckle and spin their homegrown flax fibre into a ball of linen yarn that will then be knitted into a hat for our ‘flaxman”, who gets a new item of clothing every year. Pupils also learnt how Egyptian mummy bandages were made! Paul Henry – the spinner/ kilt maker has also been using some homegrown school madder from our dye garden to dye some wool to show the range of colours you can get from this one plant.
