Day 4 – Erasmus Tenerife Trip March 2024

Today pupils visited El Teide National Park to see the island’s famous volcano with their own eyes. The experience did not disappoint! Our first stop on route up to the national park was a spectacular viewpoint high up into the mountains. Pupils commented that they felt like they were above the clouds! We took photos and learned more about the volcanic rock formations. This stop also helped us to climatise as our coach climbed into the higher altitude – our ears were popping! The next stop was El Teide Visitors Centre where we explored the museum, learning new facts about the volcano, the flora and fauna, animals and the island. On our tour of the museum gardens, we filmed each other talking about different aspects of the volcano in Spanish. We will use this footage to produce our final outcome for the project. The final stop of the trip was to the most spectacular viewpoint of the national park where we could really appreciate the enormity and beauty of the volcano. After a picnic lunch, we made our way back to the hotel, got into our swimsuits and headed down to the pool. Pupils enjoyed a good splash around before getting themselves showered and heading down to the restaurant for dinner. The teachers have observed how lovely it has been to see the pupils nurture new friendships within the group and work as a team to support one another throughout the trip. We ended the evening with a 10th birthday celebration (and a little bit of chocolate cake) before heading upstairs to pack our bags for our beach visit and final full day of the trip tomorrow! What a whirlwind of an adventure it has been!
