Day 1 – Erasmus Tenerife Trip March 2024

Today pupils embarked on their Turing scheme study visit to Tenerife to take part in a project in a collaboration with our partner school on the island’s volcanoes. Pupils were excited to get going and spent the 4-hour flight entertaining themselves and each other with card games, reading, journal writing and practising the Spanish language they will use throughout their stay. Some pupils even had a little siesta, clearly conserving their energy for all the activities during the week ahead. The pupils threw themselves into our ‘Tenerife Quiz’ to revisit their knowledge of the island – even the teachers got involved and practised their language skills! The pupils threw themselves into our ‘Tenerife Quiz’ to revisit their knowledge of the island – even the teachers got involved and practised their language skills! We tried to get a glimpse of the iconic volcano as we landed but the bumpy approach onto the island had us overwhelmed with excitement! Many fellow travellers commented on how mature and polite the children wee throughout the journey. Once e arrived safely at the airport, we took our private coach around the island to the hotel and pupils got their first view of the ocean and the diverse landscape and flora all around them. It was a long day of travelling but all pupils arrived safe and happy, ready to try out all the typical Spanish cuisine on offer to them at the hotel’s dinner buffet. Many pupils tried paella for the first time and used their Spanish language skills to greet hotel staff. After a tiring day, everyone will definitely sleep well tonight, but we are excited to go to our partner school tomorrow and see what the rest of the week brings!
