- Being fair and not taking sides.
- Giving time and effort to keep mediation running.
Peer Mediators Meetings
During the year, peer mediators from Orchard, Southwold and Hoxton Garden get together for cross site training. Over the course of the morning, peer mediators work on a number of activities designed to develop team work, communication skills and their ability to mediate. Children also explore ‘conflict’ and the positive ways that this can be resolved when out in the playground.
Peer mediators do not tell people what to do nor do they give advice. They support children in finding their own solutions. The peer mediation training that the children completed helped them to develop skills in listening, concentration and problem solving!
Anti Bullying Steering Group
The Anti-Bullying Steering Group is made up of children, staff and a parent governor. It was formed to ensure this is a regular discussion point and to celebrate the successful systems we have in place to address this important issue.
This group meets regularly to discuss systems and organise activities, aiming to educate children on the negative effects of bullying.
