Lessons in Latin!

Last half term Year 6 spent an afternoon on Southwold’s flourishing roof top garden with  Cassie our gardener. They learnt about the impressive carnivorous plants and about how they catch, kill and digest animals for an energy source. The children also learnt about the Latin names and why plants all have a name in Latin. Swedish botanist, Carl Linnaeus introduced the system for naming plants in the 18th century with each plant having a first, middle and last name!
